PVC 90° Elbow

Purpose: Change the direction of the pipe by 90 degrees. There are equal-diameter elbows and reducing elbows (less common).

Installation precautions:

Angle confirmation: Make sure it is a 90-degree elbow (there are also 45-degree, 22.5-degree, etc.).

Support: The change in water flow direction at the elbow will produce thrust (water hammer effect). Provide strong support before and after the elbow, especially near the pump or valve. Use pipe clamps, brackets or concrete piers to fix if necessary.

Long/short radius: Understand whether it is a long radius elbow (LR, smooth turn, low resistance) or a short radius elbow (SR, sharp turn, saves space but high resistance). Long radius elbows are usually used in water supply systems to reduce head loss.

Reducing elbow: Very rare. If used, pay attention to the installation position and direction of the large and small ends (similar to the large and small heads).
