Purpose: Provides a removable connection point in the piping system. Convenient for later maintenance and replacement of valves or equipment without cutting the pipe.
Structure: Consists of three parts: two bodies with external threads or sockets and a clamping nut with internal threads. The contact end faces of the male and female heads usually have grooves for placing rubber or PTFE gaskets.
Installation:
Place the gasket correctly into the groove of the female end face to ensure flatness and no distortion.
Connect the male end (which may be a socket or external thread) to the pipe or fitting on one side (according to the socket bonding or external thread connection method).
Connect the female end (which may also be a socket or external thread) to the pipe or fitting on the other side.
Alignment: Insert the male into the female head, ensuring that the two are coaxial.
Tighten the nut: Tighten the clamping nut by hand onto the external threads of the male head and tighten it initially. Then use two wrenches, one to hold the female body and the other to tighten the clamping nut evenly and slowly. The goal is to compress the gasket to form a seal, not to tighten the nut desperately! Just add a little force when you feel obvious resistance.
Note:
Must use matching gaskets! Check whether the gasket is intact and has no aging cracks.
The force of tightening the nut is the key! Over-tightening will crush the PVC body or cause the gasket to fail. Apply force evenly and moderately.
Make sure the male and female heads are coaxially aligned during installation to avoid skewed force.
The pipes at both ends of the joint must be reliably supported and fixed to prevent the joint from bearing the weight or stress of the pipe.
