How to use: Used to divert (or merge) a branch pipe with different diameters on the main pipeline. The diameters of the main pipes are the same at both ends, and the branch pipes have different diameters (usually smaller).
Installation precautions:
Flow direction and support: Same as "equal diameter tee", the flow direction must be clear. Support requirements are more stringent, especially for small branch pipes, because their stiffness is smaller.
Stress at the diameter change: There is a geometric discontinuity at the diameter change, which is a potential stress point. The support should be close to the diameter change.
Flow velocity change: Note that the diameter change of the branch pipe may cause a significant change (increase) in the local flow velocity, which may cause scouring, vibration or noise, which needs to be considered during design.
