How to use:
Straight cross: A cross-shaped structure with four ports of exactly the same diameter. Used for complex pipe intersections that require diversion or confluence in two perpendicular directions at the same time.
Reducing cross: A cross-shaped structure, usually the main pipe (two opposite ports) has the same diameter, and the branch pipe (the other two opposite ports) has the same diameter but different from the main pipe (or the four ports have different diameters). Used for cross-diversion/confluence with variable diameters.
PVC cross: Usually refers to a cross-shaped cross, which may be a straight cross or a reducing cross.
Installation precautions:
High complexity: This is one of the most complex pipe fittings, with many connection points and complex stress states.
Support is critical: There must be reliable support in all four directions, and the support should be as close to the cross body as possible to minimize cantilever loads and bending moments. The support design needs to be particularly careful.
Significant stress concentration: The geometry causes very significant stress concentration, and support must be strictly in accordance with the specifications.
Flow planning: The pipeline design needs to clearly plan the flow direction (inlet/outlet) of each port to avoid flow conflicts or dead zones.
Note on reducing crosses: When using reducing crosses, you also need to pay attention to stress concentration and flow velocity changes at the point where the diameter changes.
